Tree Top Walk

Moments before I thought of posting this entry, there was a news report on a fatal accident involving a Vietnamese man in his 20s who was struck by a tree branch after crossing the Tree Top Walk...
Most unfortunate :|

Well, I had always wanted to visit the trail and know what it's like to be amongs the canopies. However, the trip failed to materialise until today! Wei & Pat had gone there before, so I was the newbie to the place.

Thinking that we were early since we arrived before 9am, we were surprised to see the many cars parked along the roads. Perhaps there were a lot of worms up for grabs or they just wanted to bask in the early early morning sun. Armed with our water bottles and my camera, we embarked on our journey to the top at about 8.45am.

I had no idea how long it would take to reach the top and the kind of terrain that I would be encountering. Nevertheless, it was manageable even though I could have felt slightly better if I were in my track shoes instead of tevas.

Along the way, we met many people, from as young as pre-primary to grannies and grandpas. For a moment, as we neared the only pit stop where the washrooms were, I thought we were in the Zoo instead due to the crowd and activity.

In under 45 minutes, we reached the entrance to the Tree Top Walk. It was then phototaking time! Before we knew it, we had almost reached the exit of the suspension bridge. So much effort for this short walk across the bridge?! Hee...I'm not sure if I would be so keen to be there again soon.

Besides the ma-lau (monkey) which we saw at the entrance, I did not see any other creatures, save for the mosquitoes and butterflies. We, the human intruders, had probably kept them away with our talking and marching.

In all, it was a great experience for a first timer. Perhaps the next time if I were to be there, I would spend more time to read the information displays put up albeit at the risk of being a mosquito bait, and explore the other trails!
Special thanks to Pat for making this trip possible!

My Class Blog

Drop by my class blog to find out what's happening in the classroom and beyond :)

It's her 2nd!

As usual, there were tell-tale signs that she was not her usual self. Less chatty, less active and spent more time at the ground level of her cage. When hub gave her a piece of crumpled tissue to play when she's having her walkabout time, she even stuffed it under her and sat on it like she's gonna hatch something!

Then, it happened. This time, we were out and did not witness her labour process.

Back from our Sat gym session, I spotted her 2nd produce, about 2 months from her last delivery on 3rd March.
It still didn't fail to amaze us :)

Snapped a few pictures and had a video to show you actually (uploading still in progress!)

p.s. she broke it though :(

Phantom Of the Opera

The first Phantom that I caught was about 10 years back when it was staged at the Kallang Theatre. It was so memorable that I had to watch it this time round when it was staged at the Esplanade. The setup was different or at least the chandelier appeared different from the one I saw the first time round.
It was the first time Dan was catching it though.
The best part was we were seated at the fourth row from the stage! Nope, we did not buy the most expensive tickets so we were actually tucked in the left corner. However, it was an eye-opening experience, being so close to the orchestra box, seeing the expressions of the casts up close. I thought I could hear them breathe! Too bad, no photography's allowed or I could show you how close we were to the stage. Oops, then how did the shot of the chandelier came about? :X

Happy Meal

Had an enjoyable time with xPG, CY, peanuts, gummi and pat!
The KTV session was fun as we attempted Jay's Coral Sea yet again but this time round with CY as the male singer.

As with Jen and I's earlier failed attempts, even CY was confused midway because of the different voices! :D
It's a pity that there were only 4 of us though.

Nevertheless, the dinner at PastaMania made up for it! After finishing our pasta, we had wanted to adjourn to another venue for drinks. In the end, we did not and spent 2 hours at Heeren chatting. Nope, we weren't gossiping but the highlight was the Nao Jin Ji Zhuan Wan or Qian Bian Wen Da Ti session!

I learnt at least 3 new QBWDT from CY! Doris' answers were the most entertaining and I was surprised that Pat knew the answers to so many of those questions!

Time passed quickly and soon it was time to make a move. I wonder what they did after I'd left :)
In case you are wondering why I had to leave at 9pm...it was because I had to do the ironing! Can you believe it!? Haha. I just had to get it done before school reopens and I hate to do it on a Sunday night ;)
